Watershed meeting scheduled Thursday

Individuals and organizations interested in improving the quality of the Redstone Creek watershed are invited to attend a meeting Thursday at the Fayette County Health Cneter.

The meeting is being held by the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Western Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation.

The meeting will provide participants with an overview of the watershed and its existing quality.  In addition, plans will be set for a watershed sampling which will provide a "snapshot" of the watershed.  The snapshot event will be a one-day sampling in which interested individuals will take water samples to familiarize themselves with the watershed and to provide a current water quality baseline.

Anyone interested in more information about the meeting or the watershed organization should call Rita Coleman at the DEP at (412) 442-4149 or Mark Killar at the WPCAMR at 837-5271, ext. 136.
