Earth Day event planned in Fayette

The Greater Redstone Clearwater Initiative will sponsor an interactive Fayette County Earth Day event from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in South Union Township Community Park in Hutchinson.

Free to the public, it will feature Mountain Watershed Association; Jacobs Creek Watershed Association; the Fayette County Conservation District; PA CleanWays of Fayette County; the Pennsylvania Game Commission; the Western Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation; Trout Unlimited; and Joseph Shostell, a biology professor at Penn State Fayette, the Eberly Campus.

Raffle prizes include a $200 fly-fishing rod and free passes to the Carnegie Science Center and the Andy Warhol Museum.  Those attending may bring a T-shirt or other clothing for tie dying.  A children's environmental art contest will also be held.
